Frequently Asked Questions

Will the CLINAGE Vitamin C Home Peel actualy peel my skin?

No, it dissolves the oil and glue tht holds dead, dry cells on the top layer of skin, and loosens and removes them. These dead skin cells have no function or benefit to our skin and need to be removed. The Vitamin C Home Peel will help remove those dead, dry skin cells. Some people may experience some flaking, and shedding of dry dead skin cells but it is only superficial and is not actually peeling the skin.

Can I use these products if my skin is dry?

Yes, most dry skin is really - dry dead skin cells that need to be removed. As we age the new skin cells come to the surface at a slower rate, and the old dead skin cells build up and inhibit anything from absorbing into the skin. Continued use of these products will also increase cells that retain moisture in the deeper skin layers.

Can I still go outside in the sunshine if I'm using these products?

Yes, unlike Retin A these products are not photo-sensitive, which means you will not risk more pigmentation if you go into the sun while using them. However, it is highly recommended that you use a sunscreen with at least 30 SPF(preferably a sunblock) when you know you will be exposed to direct sunlight.

Can I use these products if I'm using Retin-A?

Yes, but not on the same day. You should wait 48 hours before and after using Retin A to use the Skin Peel Activaor and/or Crystals on the skin. You can still use the other products in the line.

Can I use these products if I have Rosacea?

Yes, in fact it will improve the blotchiness that comes with Rosacea, and it helps to refine the pores, and even the complexion. The products have an anti-flammatory action that helps calm the redness.

How does the Vitamin C Peel improve Acne?

It removes the oil and glue that holds dead skin cells on the top layer of skin. These dead skin cells block oil from coming out of the pores. When this happens the oil clogs inside the pore and causes a blemish (a white head or black head). Glycolic Acid not only removes the dead skin cells from the top layer, but also works into the pore and softens the oil plug that is causing the blemish and allows it to dislodge and come out. In order to keep the pores cleaned out you must continue to use the glycolic acid products everyday.

Do these products work with all types of Acne?

The products are excellent with mild to moderate types of Acne. If you have Cystic Acne (deep boil-like cysts or pustules) it is recommended that you also check with your dermatologist.

After I first started using the products I got a few pimples. I was afraid that I was allergic and stopped using the products. Why did I break out?

It is quite common to have a blemish or two appear after you start using the products. The pores are trying to open up and clean out. When this happens you may see a pimple or two. Unless you are experiencing itching, redness or swelling that persists for more than 1/2 hour you should continue to use the products so that you will continue purging (cleaning out process) Remember, the pimples will dry up faster if you continue using the product.

How long does it take for me to see improvement in my skin after I start using the CLINAGE products?

Your skin will look fresher almost immediately after the first or second usage. Within 1-2 weeks you will start to get a fresh, smoother, healthier glow to your skin that even you will notice. Within 3-4 weeks your pores will begin to look much smaller. Within 3-4 months your skin will start to feel tighter. Fine lines and wrinkles are less visible. Within one year you will feel like you've had a mini face lift. See our "Before and After" photograph for what you can expect when you are committed and disciplined about using the products everyday.

How often should I wash my face with the Lift Off Cleanser?

If your skin is combination or oily, you should wash your face twice a day, morning and evening. If your skin is normal, dry, or sensitive, you should wash once a day at night only. Use warm water only, not hot or cold. Follow with Renewal Mist, Vitamin Serums and Renewal Moisturizer.

How do the CLINAGE products improve dark spots and pigmentations?

Dark spots and pigmentation are caused when there is an injury, burn, or trauma to the skin. All the skins cells, i.e. collagen, elastin, water retaining cells, and brown pigment cells are stimulated when there is an injury, burn, or trauma to the skin. Normal behavior for the pigment cells is to be calm. When an injury occurs the pigment cells become hyperactive and clump together creating a dark spot. Glycolic Acid and Vitamin C help to lighten the brown spot on the outside, and calm the brown pigment activity in the lower skin layer.

Are there times when I should not peel my skin?

Anytime the skin is irritated from such things as: depilatories, waxing, sunburn, hair dyes, permanent waves, or straighteners. If there is a rash, active exzema, fresh picked acne, open sores, active fever blisters or herpes infections, allergies or colds, or recent microdermabrasion, peels should be avoided until the irritation has healed up.

Can I use these products with other skin care lines?

Yes, the peel will increase absorption of all nutrient products. However, we do not recommend using two different products that contain "glycolic acid" either daily or with peeling products. CLINAGE works best if the products are all used together and as prescribed to obtain the best results. The layering of products improves absorption of ingredients that build our skin to a healthier state.
